ChatGPT is not intelligence. Stop labeling it “AI”.
“Artificial intelligence” is a misnomer here because it implies cognitive abilities. Intelligence requires the ability to know or understand. ChatGPT can’t do either. It has no understanding, no awareness, no sense of what its own output means.
It doesn’t think, it doesn’t realize, and it doesn’t understand. Words are just statistical patterns to it, nothing more.
The error of attributing intelligence to generative systems, like ChatGPT, encourages people to give those systems a misplaced level of trust and treat them as if they have insight or authority they don’t actually have.
